Farmhouse

The farmhouse of Agritourism Merlano is part of the Regional Natural Park of Veio, located few kilometers north of the Rome. It includes also some villages bordering on Eternal City, including Sacrofano, and consists of 14,000 hectares. The Park of Veio is a protected area due to the high value of the landscape and to the historical, natural and cultural.

The farm is located between the ancient streets Flaminia and Cassia and the historic Via Francigena and covers about 40 hectares.

Katia and her husband, the owners of the Merlano Agritourism, purchased the farm for the love of the land and the nature. From Rome, they fall in love with these nineteenth-century farmhouses surrounded by the green hills and with the 360 degree panorama of Rome with its sunsets.

After the renovation of the smaller farmhouse and turret, once the estate was incorporated in the Park of Veio, it was born the idea of the Agritourism to make available to tourists and travelers a holiday home near Rome, away from the bustle of the city center, an ideal place for those seeking a quiet stay in the countryside of Park of Veio.

The farmstead consists of an organic garden (you can visit the garden, if you wish!), fruit trees (you can taste the fresh fruit for breakfast or on arrival), an olive tree grove and a vineyard. The Agritourism area is delimited by a wood composed by oaks, holm oaks, chestnut trees, walnut, almond trees and nut-trees.

The Merlano estate alo has courtyard animals, raised free inside a fence to protect them from predators. But the special guests of Merlano Agritourism are six donkeys. The three arrived before and saved from the slaughterhouse, are Tuono, Geggia and Gigia. Then newly they arrived Bella and Luky and this year is born a puppy. They live free in the ground and chose a cave as their home.

Merlano Agritourism has a saltwater pool, a barbecue for guests, some mountain bikes and children’s playground.
